safe in the knowledge that you will you have our tour support each day.
This is a vehicle supported tour suitable for motorcyclists with some continental motorcycling experience
& more independent riders who wish to explore at their own pace, whilst still benefiting from the support, experience and company of fellow travelers.
|
"vehicle supported" = relaxed flexible riding with support & experience at hand
(May 2010 trip is run from our 4x4 chase vehicle)
(September trip is motorcycle supported)
All tours have a totally flexible riding approach enabling you to ride at your own pace
with the support & friendship of your fellow riders whenever you need it.
Riders usually form into their own smaller riding groups of perhaps 2 or 3 bikes,
Much more enjoyable & flexible than the restraints of riding in convoy.
You are welcome to 'drop in behind' our supporting chase vehicle at any time, but most riders soon prefer to ride the tour at their own pace without the restraints or pressures of trying to keep up with other riders or a guide.
We provide full comprehensive route notes with GPS way points assisting you
with key road directions & junctions, interesting places to stop, good coffee & cake stops!
Plus Riders meet up way-points, where you can join up with 1 or 2 other riders your tour, when-ever you wish.
Everyone's free to explore at their own pace.
From experience, riders will sometimes take it in turns navigating or simply follow one of the other riders on
the tour. There are always riders who prefer the navigating element of touring more than others, but with our comprehensive road notes, GPS co-ordinates & daily riders briefing,
you'll enjoy more of the 'free spirited' way that biking is meant to be.
Riding out across the best of Germany, including the Rhine & Black Forest
heading east
across stunning riding sections of the Austrian Alps, returning via
lovely scenery & perfect biking roads of the Slovakian Tatras. We then turn West & cross
the open intriguing lands of the czech Republic, stopping in one of the most gorgeous Czech towns full
of colour and vibrancy, where we're based at the very best hotel in town.
and then
INCLUDES: 2 nights stop in secluded mountains & Forests by the Slovakian Tatra mountains/ southern Poland borders
with a spare day to ride into Poland & visit the Auschwitz & Birkenau sites.
Our support vehicle will be close on hand, so that we can hold your jackets & helmet for you,
allowing you to explore without always having to carry your riding kit around with you.
Plenty of spare time to explore the amazing vibrant Hungarian capital city of Budapest
Plus time
cool down & relax with a free Moto Explorer entry ticket into Budapest's best
range of natural thermal spa's

Previous tours in May 2008 & 2009 - always a fantastic time for touring into eastern Europe Full Tours - 12 riders
Everyone had a fantastic 2 weeks riding
reporting Budapest to be a fantastic relaxing destination, with great restaurants & top marks for our choice of quality hotel with secure bike parking. As ever the spa day was a highlight, with most people sampling either a Hungarian or Tai massage (or in some cases both!) Everyone commented on the quality & variety of accommodation used throughout the tour, stating that we could change our description from 'Character accommodation' to 'Great quality accommodation'
It appears that our choice of good quality hotels with local character is a real winner with everyone on this trip.

| Motorcycle type? |
We are often asked which type of motorcycle is best suited for these adventures?
The answer is, what ever bike best suits you. So long as it's a reasonable road touring bike, virtually any bike should handle the 10 country tour.
There is no specific requirement for off road riding, although at certain points there are opportunities to venture into the rough if you wish!
BMW GS's feature predominantly on the tour, simply because people like them! They're a good
all rounder with the ability to venture of the beaten track & explore a few green lanes as we cross Europe.

Vibrant - new east Europe |
Adventure Bike tours . . .
experience the true nature of the Countries through which we travel. The adventures are not based on a series of cultural visits to historical sites, although we do pass by some significant locations as we cross Europe & tour riders may wish to research and include a few visits to specific places along the way.
The tours are designed to be more of a riding adventure, staying at good quality characterful accommodation, meeting and mixing with local people. Adventure Bike Tours will point you in the right direction to have a new experience and adventure on everyday of your tour, with enough freedom and independence to include as many of your own diversions as you wish! At the end of each day, you will always know that you'll have a good base to recharge your batteries whilst still getting a true taste for the culture of the Country through which we're traveling. |

| Traditional German town alongside the Rhine |
Lunch by the Swiss border close to the Austrian Alps |
The 10 Country tour
Departure is usually on a Sunday, Giving you the Saturday to prepare for your tour & for those wanting a fresh start on the Sunday, maybe an overnight stop in the UK close to port. Riders from the North wishing to ride south on the Saturday before the tour can stay overnight in Dover or alternatively - you can sail from a more northern port, ie Hull - & simply meet up with us at one of our GPS waypoints or the first evenings hotel in Germany.
We sail early morning from Dover to Dunkerque which positions us nicely for our ride across Belgium and first night close to the Rhine
in Northern Germany.
ETA in Dunkerque is aprox 11am.
Average mileage for each day is aprox 240 miles of great motorcycling - with a couple of slightly longer rides on odd days.
Predominantly non motorway, mainly top biking routes!
This is an adventure tour that is more about motorcycling than visiting museums and beaches! - This tour is all about enjoying stimulating riding and getting a true taste of eastern Europe. Minimal motorway riding - mainly to link up to the best bits of biking roads. ie Outward Port to Germany. Plenty of adventure & riding variety from day 2 onward.
All riding is on road, although there is opportunity for a few dirt roads at certain stages, they are not an essential part of the tour. Hence, most riders will be on a variety of sports tourers.
This tour can run in either direction and may be slightly amended to suit certain riders as well keeping an element of adventure!
We now include riding in the Slovakian Tatras with an opportunity to venture into Poland & visit the Auschwitz camp for any riders who would like to experience this. The full route along with all accommodation points, addresses, map books and sat nav co-ordinates will be provided aprox 30 days prior to departure.
This is a tour to point you in the right direction for a great adventure ride across Europe. Each day is flexible - for you to ride however you wish. Whilst you have the benefit of suggested route notes - there's no need to stick rigidly to them!
There's lots of suggested meeting way points along the route . . . and your evenings accommodation is all arranged, so there's always a few like minded riders & pillions . . . . "guys and girls just like you" . . . to share the days experiences with over a cheap chilled glass of wine . . . or 2 :_) |
| Czech Republic - open roads |

Outward ride (basic outline of the tour . . . . but it will always be evolving & fine tuned to suit YOU . . . & how you ride - on your tour)
Routes & directions vary from tour to tour. This example is based on riding the Czech Republic sections on the outward stage.
Certain tours will include riding across 9 Countries with an option to cross the 10th - usually Poland or Switzerland dependant on tour routes.
Day 1 takes us across Belgium to Germany, where we stay in Germanys lovely Eiffel region, ready to pick up the real start of Europe's stunning riding!
Day 2 Two days heading across southern Germany - including superb sections approaching the Black Forest where the roads start those famous twisty climbs towards the Alps.
Day 3 An early start heading from south Germany across Country to the Czech border. A full days riding that has everything! Our first stop in Czech is not too far over the border, at a friendly high quality biker run pension, full of character in a stunningly beautiful town. The first milestone of the trip as we enter eastern Europe & the 1st drinks are on me!! We'll take a short walk into town - where I'll organize a full evening meal with drinks - to celebrate our arrival in the east! |
Czech republic:

Day 4 We'll then spend the next 2 days riding across the Czech Republic - at a slightly slower pace, enabling us to take in the change of culture.
Day 5 The Czech / Slovakia border region where we stay right in the middle of a stunning forest, surrounded by forested mountains & fresh air, with hardly a car in sight. Option here for an extended day riding in Slovakian Tatras & across the Polish border. |

I'll be on close hand to point you in the right directions, with one amazing relaxing thermal spa day - included.
Work up a big appetite, as the Hungarian cuisine is amongst the finest you'll sample. I'll recommend some lovely relaxed local bars & restaurants - with the most amazing home cooked Hungarian food & portions! Probably amongst the best steaks you'll find anywhere in the world!! |
Day 9 Heading west out of Budapest - along either lake Balaton or the Danube (dependent on tour guide) where we spend the evening. (may be replaced with an extended days riding on the Slovakia / Poland stage) with an opportunity to cross the border & visit the Auschwitz camp if any riders wish to take this detour. (Auschwitz is an extended days riding from northern Slovakia into Poland and & hence is only practical on certain tours, usually easiest on the May or September tours) sat nav GPS coordinate for Auschwitz are included on these tours.
Day 10
For those independent riders wishing to continue further south exploring the Balkans further, or perhaps down to Greece or even Bulgaria? This would be a good point to accompany us up to. We can recommend other tour guides in this region - should you wish to join a longer tour of the balkans.
. . . . Back to our adventure, as we approach the snow capped Austrian Alps and once again some of the most stunning motorcycling in the world. |

Day 11 Hungary to Austria - A stunning mountain ride. We stop the night high in the Tyrol mountains! & then
Day 12 Austria / Switz to southern Germany. Again, all stunning riding as we head west, across famous Austrian & south German biking country. You'll be well warmed up by now! & love every minute of these roads with some of Europe's best motorcycle roads right here! A nice stretch across southern Germany, staying night 12 at a lovely cultural town where we'll eat & drink well, German style! |
sit back, relax & enjoy plenty of cool German beer, as we stop off somewhere intriguingly different each evening.
That's me :-) I'm the one on the end . . . not the dead looking one (I hope!!) enjoying a cool glass of German tap water . . . . . "I'm sure that's what I asked for!!?" contact me . . . . with anything you'd like to ask. If I'm on a tour . . . hopefully Sazi at Explorer HQ - will send you a nice message back :_)
Day 13 Central to northern Germany - with our last German evening, where we stay in a lovely rural location close to the Luxembourg border. A few German beers & group meal sets us up for the last days riding . . . . |
 |
 |
 |
 |
Plenty of time to chill out resting the bikes, drink great European coffee & watch the world go by. |
Green open space, un crowded towns, always somewhere new to explore.
Just another day in paradise |
. . . now there's a good name for
a song!? . . . & where better to practice your yodeling! |
A land of intriguing people who
keep perfect time & are really good at keeping your money safe! |
Day 14 and it's still great European motorcycling as we start our approach back into Belgium, stopping off at a lovely town rich in European war time history. Arriving at port for an early evening Saturday crossing back to UK.
Aprox sailing time is 8.00pm. Those with long connecting rides from Dover, may wish to book accommodation for Saturday evening in the UK. Alternatively there is an overnight crossing available Zeebrugge to Hull which could be arranged independently. |

European Motorcycle tour & Route information
We've two main aims on the ten Country adventure tour:
To take you places which you'd never find / or go alone, covering enough distance on the tour each day to put us in a position which is different from the day before. To achieve this, we strike a balance between covering enough distance each day whilst keeping the riding enjoyable and achievable for an average adventurer. In doing this, we get to push ourselves maybe just a little beyond our usual comfort zone, in terms of how we ride / where we'd ride. Always with the aim to make each day a new stimulating new experience, where you find yourself riding in a new environment each day, with each evening stop again a new experience where you'll get a taste of local culture.
Fantastic motorcycling routes. The tour is also about traveling, riding and experiencing a real journey of adventure. The riding is different in each Country we visit. Everyday a new riding experience. We combine some stunning scenic motorcycling routes with both slower b roads taking us through mystic villages, as well as the odd faster road or autobahn to enable us to progress quickly to the next experience!
To make this possible, we sometimes strike a balance between good riding routes & faster journeys. But, no matter what route we take, each section is a stimulating journey. In order to find ourselves planted in a strange new land relatively quickly, we do need to make quite good progress across some of the tour sections, but be assured that each day has been well researched and pre run by myself and will be a good balanced route to keep the tour flowing nicely & be an easily ridable distance, usually averaging 240 miles per day. Of course you're welcome (& encouraged) to take your own routes and diversions. We'll all get a little lost at certain points of the tour; all part of the adventure of traveling through a strange part of the world!, but you'll always have our pre planned route / directions / way points and sat nav co ordinates to point you back in the right direction for each key point in the tour.
Route guides include:
Where practical, a lunch time suggested meeting point / way point, with ETA & the relevant road reference and GPS
sat nav E. / N. coordinate
The start direction and suggested route for each days ride.
Name / Address for each evenings accommodation, with sat nav co-ordinate, along with an ETA.
Should things not go to plan - no problem, just keep heading in the right direction & meet up what ever time you decide to arrive at the evening's accommodation yourself. Other riders will have checked in & you will know that your room is awaiting for you whatever time you arrive . . . . however wet & hungry you are! Motorcycling across Europe is adventurous and we are all aware at times carries certain risks. Accordingly, every rider should have everything necessary to take care of your self and your motorcycle, including full European breakdown assistance, medical insurance with repatriation arrangements in the event of accident or illness. All riders must also be able to take full responsibility for themselves on tour at all times should you need to ride any stages of the tour alone or make arrangements for assistance in the event of breakdown.
